WELCOME TO GID

CREATIVE CATALYSTS, future leaders of innovation and design -- these are the people that the Global Innovation Design Program was created to nurture and train: people with irrepressible curiosity, an innate talent for spotting opportunity, and an entrepreneurial spirit for bringing new products, services, and initiatives into being.

If you have the passion, intelligence, and creativity to join us in a redefinition of the trajectory of global design, we want to welcome you to GID -- an experience on three continents, in three magnificent cities, based in four world-class educational institutions.

This will be an experience that will stretch your abilities, widen your worldview, and enrich your knowledge for the rest of your lives. We look forward to working with you.

MESSAGE FROM EACH SCHOOL

The journey will be multifaceted, complex and intense, you are an agent of change and GID-London will help you shape your path.

LONDON is home to the Royal College of Art (RCA) and Imperial College London. With these two institutes collaborating on the European section of the GID programme you gain the creativity of an art and design college combined with the technical rigour of a world leading engineering university. The London based GID curriculum is a sequential mix of different innovation experiences where there is an emphasis on thinking, making and proving propositions through prototyping. We believe design is a verb, not a noun. The teaching philosophy is one of self-directed study with the participants of the educational programme defining their path and processes. GID-London key ingredients are people (you'll be surrounded by a rich multi-disciplinary cohort); place (you'll be based in the RCA studio and have full access to both colleges, facilities and faculty) and projects (you will learn through doing a diverse set of project based learning opportunities). Your experience will take you through many facets of innovation including different approaches to innovation design (from fundamental experimentation to disruptive market focus); the mix of design and engineering (you\'ll be introduced to engineering machine elements and their application in design); also sustainability is core and we expect all participants to develop a manifesto on environmental, social and financial sustainability. The journey will be multifaceted, complex and intense, you are an agent of change and GID-London will help you shape your path.

The mission of GID-Tokyo at KMD is to educate students for creative global leadership, combining the four creativities of design, technology, management, and policy to drive projects on the global stage.

Keio University's Graduate School of Media Design, also known as Keio Media Design, or KMD, is the home of innovation leadership. Conveniently located near central Tokyo, KMD shares and contributes to the dynamism of Japan's pop and design culture, and forms a hub for creative industry in Asia. The mission of GID-Tokyo at KMD is to educate students for creative global leadership, combining the four creativities of design, technology, management, and policy to drive projects on the global stage.
KMD Method combines Design Thinking, Storytelling, and Global Strategy, challenging students to engage with real world problems. Collaboration is at the core, with team members making personal contributions that collectively result in extraordinary achievements. KMD is a unique design program that combines a cutting-edge technology innovation center with a disruptive strategy think tank.

The focus of GID-New York in our program is supporting the growth of future "global citizens", poised to enter the universe of design with ideas and conviction.

Pratt Institute is one of the most heterogeneous sites of art and design education in the world, where a very exciting and productive juxtaposition of numerous points of view is played out every day. GID-New York will be an essential component of the Graduate Program in Industrial Design, one of the most intense programs at the Institute, where we build on the Pratt heritage of aesthetic sensibility and individual expression, bringing dynamism and diversity to the common pursuit of creativity, explored through projects large and small, translating ideas into a wide variety of forms, systems and structures. Ours is a generalist, humanist design program that extends to bringing conceptual skills to a high level, through significant research activity and personal engagement, allowing the sensibility of each emerging designer to flourish through individual thesis projects and contact with the design scene of New York, with its own broad scope of dynamism and heterogeneity. The focus of GID-New York in our program is supporting the growth of future "global citizens", poised to enter the universe of design with ideas and conviction; our audience is the world, whose inhabitants eagerly await the results of our own particular form of research to make a better and more engaging life. As such, GID will become the shared platform for our common vision.
